✨ How it works

The science of going at the right time.

Choose when to travel with seasonal climate averages, then build your trip with AI, by hand, or with a Creator itinerary.

When to go, and how to plan your trip

Best Time To Go brings seasonal guidance, AI trips, manual trips and Creator itineraries together.

Best months, based on climate averages

Best Time uses monthly temperature and rainfall averages from NASA POWER, based on MERRA-2. The source averaging period is shown with each result. BTG ranks months using lower average rainfall and temperatures between 16 and 28°C as preferences. This is a travel-planning heuristic, not a recommendation issued by NASA.

Climate averages describe a regional grid cell. They do not predict a particular day, rain probability, storms or future conditions. We no longer provide a daily historical calendar or exact best-week windows. Check current forecasts and official travel advice before booking.

Destination search and credits

City search uses the GeoNames cities dataset, plus BTG's curated regions and islands. Smaller places may not be listed. Search for a nearby city when needed.

NASA POWER data are acknowledged according to the NASA referencing guide. Place data: GeoNames, CC BY 4.0, adapted for search. Maps: © OpenStreetMap contributors, © CARTO. Image and data credits.

Your existing trips

Your account, saved trips, AI planning and manual planning remain available. Seasonal data are shared and cached to reduce repeated requests. These climate averages do not require a weather subscription.
